On October 10, 2014, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced two Nobel Peace Prize winners: Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan and Kailash Satyarthi from India. Both were recognized for their struggle against the suppression of children and for the right to education.
The selection is notable not only for their achievements, but for the message the Nobel Committee wished to convey: that peace cannot be separated from justice for children, and that struggles across religious and cultural boundaries can go hand in hand.
